Dana Cabot cannot remember the kind of person she was before May 29th, the day she became angry at God, her husband and herself. The day her daughter Bailey disappeared. But a shocking event offers a clue to what happened to Bailey and her unwitting part in it. She must now decide whether to keep the truth to herself or risk losing her family.
This was the most compelling, suspenseful book I have read in a long time. I couldn't put it down! I really felt like I knew these characters, and was drawn into their lives and what happened to them. The book is a real page-turner but the story is about more than a child's disappearance. I wanted to find out what would happen to Dana and her marriage, and the outcome of the trial that her husband was working on -- even the minor characters and background stories were vivid and intriguing. I highly recommend this book.
Disappearance of a child

Seven words on the back cover of this book caught my attention: the day Dana got mad at God. Haven't we all had days when we get mad at God and the rest of the world? The disappearance of a child is a horrible thing that is going to make a compelling read. Drusilla Campbell's writing adds a depth to the characters and the plot that keeps you turning pages long after you decide you should turn the lights out and call it a night. Add in a dark, obsessive love affair and there is an urgency to keep reading, as well as the dread of guessing where it is going to lead. The day after I finished reading Blood Orange, I purchased Wildwood, also by Drusilla Campbell.

An abduction, an affair, a murder, and a marriage unraveling. This book packs a great punch with all sorts of twists and turns, yet never leaves you wanting more from these emotionally deep characters.
Best one yet!

Drusilla Campbell has outdone herself with this new book. From the first paragraph, I was hooked. As the plot unfolds and we become better acquainted with her characters and the layers of their past are peeled away to show more completely what makes them behave the way they do, the story takes on more interest. I especially enjoy her descriptions - great word choice and metaphors. A very enjoyable and exciting read!
Can't put it down!

I didn't heed the advice on the back of the book to savor and linger over Blood Orange. I tore through it in one day and defy anyone to do otherwise. It's a pageturner! I was sure I knew what was coming and was wrong repeatedly. What a delight to be surprised! This book has depth and suspense and is written with great honesty. Can't wait to share it with my book club.
