Luxury kitchens are the hottest trend in the home construction and remodeling business, even in relatively modest homes, where owners are compromising elsewhere in order to afford the best possible kitchen. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Dream Kitchens shows homeowners what's hot and what's not, and gives practical information on how they can achieve the kitchens of their fantasies. Recent innovations in planning and room layout are covered in detail, and the merits of premium building materials and appliances are discussed and compared. Readers will also learn how to work with professional contractors to get the kitchen they want -- on budget and on time. But this is a book not only for dreaming, but also for doing. An impressive chapter gives more than a dozen actual how-to projects for creating luxury kitchen features easily and with professional results. For example, ambitious readers will learn how to create a polished concrete countertop; how to measure, order and install granite surfaces; how to create custom cove lighting systems; how to install a deep-basin sink; how a self-venting fireplace can become part of a remodeled kitchen. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Dream Kitchens will delight dreamers and doers alike.
The Black & Decker complete guide to Kitchens is pretty good, showing all options in making your kitchen a place you would want to be in and enjoy your time there. There ia a large number of colour photos that help in understanding what it would look like. Most importantly for me was the suggestio of tools needed for the job. I just love tools :) An excellent book, would recommend this book to anyone with little diy ideas.
Good resource for the reluctant DIY-er

Our house is now about twenty-five years old and we've recently begun overhauling and replacing a lot of stuff. Painting is easy, and laying tile isn't too difficult to learn, but tackling bathrooms and kitchens is notoriously difficult. This volume in the "Black & Decker" series is pretty good, walking you through all the pats of the kitchen -- cabinets, countertops, fixtures, appliances, floors, lighting, etc -- identifying the options for each, and showing you how to calculate costs. And, for that matter, helping you decide which parts you can probably do yourself and which you really want to call on a professional for. (Personally, I'm not about to take on electrical or plumbing systems!) There are a huge number of detailed color photos, especially for key operations like leveling tile, floating a floor, and installing under-cabinet lighting (something my wife really wants). They'll also show you which specialized tools you really need to use. An excellent book in an above-average series.
