I don't think there is such a thing as bear-proof investing, but it definitely makes a great title. I enjoyed reading Chapter 3 on types of bear markets. Many investors may assume that recessions and bear markets are the same. The author states that there are many types of bear markets: * Political/financial-instability bear markets * Market-liquidity bear markets * Recession bear markets * Inflation/interest-rate bear markets * Deflation bear markets * Information bear markets Other chapters address economic indicators, market indicators, and market timing. When I originally saw the titles of these chapters, I thought that the author was going to make promises that investors can use economic indicators to time the market, and pinpoint the start and the end of bear markets. But he did not do that. Instead, he explained these topics, but also told readers that there are many limitations and that it is difficult, if not impossible, to time the market. Readers may not agree with everything in this book, but the author does provide useful information. - Mariusz Skonieczny, author of Why Are We So Clueless about the Stock Market?
