Quality writing about baseball that appeals to all fans of the game

In my opinion, the book should be titled "Baseball's Greatest (Longterm) Rivalry" as the most intense was between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants in the days of Sal Maglie and Jackie Robinson. Nevertheless, the battles between the Red Sox and the Yankees have been carried out both on and off the field of play. The defining moment was when Babe Ruth was sold to the Yankees when it was clear that he was going to be in whatever category is above superstar. You do not have to be a fan of either team to enjoy this book; it highlights some of the most memorable games between the two teams as well as the Joe DiMaggio versus Ted Williams controversy. While Williams was clearly the better hitter, he was a lackluster fielder and less than a total team player, so the arguments in favor of DiMaggio as the better player are reasonable. I have been a Cub fan for decades yet enjoyed this book immensely because I am a baseball fan and always appreciate quality writing about the sport.
