A young native woman is kidnapped from her Ojibwe village in the 1800s and forced to attend the government boarding school. After graduation she finds herself in a politically arranged marriage with a logger who destroys thousands of acres of her ancestral lands. Still she manages to survive and finally excape. Her legacy of Anishinaabe tradition and spirituality is passed down and is still practiced to this very day.
