A Book For Seekers of God

I love this book written with the deepest humility and devotion. Gurumayi’s poetry is intensely personal and drenched in absolute love. It is her own journey over many years seeking complete merging with Divine Love. Yet Gurumayi reaches her hand back to each of us, offering support and encouragement on our own path to the Heart.

I gave this book 4 stars based on the fact that the poetry is not truly poetry, more of a stanza-structured prose, so it was slightly disappointing from that perspective. I am sure that devotees of Gurumayi will not find this a problem as it is filled with tremendous heart and deep spiritual expression. It's a bit like a Christian saying the Bible is poetry, when it is not truly poetry, though it often reads as such. Still it is narrative prose. I am pickier than most as a poet that also writes prose. One other note that I think everyone should be aware of, this is basically the same book in hardcover as "Pulsation of Love". The poems have been slightly re-ordered and the hardcover has some very nice illustrations that "Pulsation Of Love" does not have. Also, the hardcover is beautifully constructed, has a hard case slipcover and a clear dust cover over the book that adds a very high-class look to the book. Over all, I am pleased, just disappointed that they gave the soft-cover a different title and cover artwork, leading one to believe they are two separate entities. As one who is not a devotee of Gurumayi, but who is on a quest for faith, I found this book to contain great wisdom and to be worth reading in spite of being poetically disappointed. JJ

Breathtaking.

When a "Master" attains 'salvation'...to read about her 'words' of 'passion', 'longing', 'fire', and 'determination'....along the "WAY"...is something 'unparalleled'. One can only read with 'held breath'...of the 'accounts' of her 'travails' and 'forcefulness of purpose' expressed so poetically, and 'sit' in 'thankfulness' that they've been 'revealed'. :-)Many, many 'aspects' and also 'teachings' are 'cogently' 'given' in these poems and 'words' of this "Master". For a 'seeker' of 'knowledge' and 'liberation...and for a person with 'spiritual' 'curiosity'...this 'collection' is...'neat'. :-) (thanks) "Joy"

Inspiring!

I loved this book because I could really "feel" the experiences that Swami Chidvilasananda was telling about as I was reading. With her poetry, spiritual life seems so simple, so deep, so profound, and yet so exciting! ...very inspiring, definitely!
