Tryan of Larksbottom has a dream: To unite all of Daarm by becoming a Language Master. His idealistic nature makes him an easy target of manipulation. The question is: by whom? Hoodon, his dwarven... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and am waiting for the next one to come out to find out several things. Where will Tryan be sent next? What's going to happen to Hoodon in Talantras? Is the Master of Par a good guy or bad guy? What's going on in Seareach? The author has done a good job of building a believable set of characters that I have quickly grown to like, with a story line that has kept my interest. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I read this because a friend of mine wrote it. I expected to say 'nice book' and leave it at that. Instead, I found that I liked the good guy (Tryan), and I still wanna know who the bad guy is. HUrry up and write the next one!
Apprentice of Daarm - a good guy at last

Tryan, the apprentice in question, wants to make the world a better place. He believes that if he were to master the four languages of his world, (human, Gaeon (dwarven), Sylon (lizardmen) and Avion (birdmen)), he would be able to accomplish that goal. This book is fun and exciting all the way through. Just the right amount of character development with an interesting application of magic and subtle humor makes me eager for the sequel.
