This book introduces a menagerie of charming paper animals. Each animal is built on simple shapes any child can master in moments and will lead to hours of pleasure and play. Animal Origami follows the "unit origami" method. You simply make several basic units-the "boat," the "house," the "boot"-then assemble the finished units, like building blocks. All the popular animals put in an appearance. Such perennial favorites as dogs and penguins are joined by more inventive versions of the elephant, lion, and kangaroo. As in our long-selling Origami for Parties and Origami for Christmas , high-quality photographs accompany the instructions and suggest ways in which the origami can be used for decoration or play, guaranteeing long-lasting entertainment for children, their parents, and enthusiastic hobbyists.
If you are a beginner in origami and want to expand your capabilities, this is a great and easy-to-follow book. I've also bought "Origami Zoo: An Amazing Collection of Folded Paper Animals" by Lang and Weiss. I found that book to be incredibly challenging. It's something I will want to work toward to in the future. And although the animals in this book don't turn out as intricate as the ones from the other book, it is still quite entertaining. Plus, the steps are easy to memorize, and I get a sense of satisfaction that I'm actually learning the basic folds. Finally, I liked the extra bonus origami paper included in the book. So if you are a beginner like me, I highly recommend this as a stepping stone for further folding pursuits.
