In his third volume of versified fables, popular songwriter Tom Paxton follows his triumphant Aesop's Fables and Belling the Cat with ten more gently cautionary tales, including such favorites as The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, and The Donkey Carrying Salt. Paxton's jaunty, rhythmic verse makes Aesop's lesson fresh and wise again. Full-color illustrations.
My preschool age children enjoy this book! It is a great introduction to Aesop's classic tales. While the rhyming can sometimes seem forced, the verses give the stories a lot of energy. I am not drawn to the illustrations, although they are bold and memorable. This book includes: Androcles and the Lion The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing The Bald Knight The Tree and the Reed The Donkey Carrying Salt The Ant and the Dove The King of the Barnyard The Jay and the Peacocks The Man, The Boy, and The Donkey The Wolf and the Crane
