Amsterdam has more canals than Venice, more bridges than Paris, more bicycles than cars, and perhaps more tolerance than any other city in the world. It's what makes Amsterdam truly unique and such a wonderful place to visit. Because the city is so compact, you can see a lot even if your stay is short. Its sights are as diverse as its residents, including beautiful churches, lovely gardens, world-class museums and, of course, the infamous Red Light District. Cultured, vibrant, fun-and easy to get around-Amsterdam is the perfect European city to explore. As our title says, this little guide will make your trip to Amsterdam easy. You'll have over 100 places of interest at your fingertips, with insider tips on cafes, restaurants, shops, and outdoor markets. We've also given directions for great themed walks around the city, along the canals and, of course, through the "naughty" part of town (this is Amsterdam, after all ). Forget those large, bulky travel books. This handy little guide to Amsterdam is all you need to make your visit enjoyable, memorable-and easy. This updated 2nd edition features: Walking Tours Museums, Monuments, Historic Sights & Architecture Parks, Palaces & Gardens Dining & Nightlife Day Trips to Edam, Haarlem, Delft, Aalsmeer, and More Helpful Dutch Phrases, Travel Tips, and Detailed Maps
I now own just about every travel book you can buy on Amsterdam. I am drawn to this one because it isn't too wordy - it provides nothing but the information you need without all the fluff and fuss you find in the other books. It also lists a number of places of interest that the other books don't. While it may not be the most aesthetically appealing travel books I've come upon, it has certainly proved itself to be one of the most useful.

I've always wanted to visit Holland. This guide let me imagine what I'd see and do if I ever get there. Of course, the museums in Amsterdam like the van Gogh Museum or the Anne Frank House are pretty special. The book gives a number of walking tours that take you along the canals. For the armchair traveler, you'll want to team this book up with some heftier coffee table books on Amsterdam. For the actual traveler, this slim book will be handy to carry around with you to find the best coffeehouses and entertainment.
