Get ready for some serious science fun when the Friz takes on the most attractive topic of all: Magnetism Hi, I'm Carlos - one of the kids in Ms. Frizzle's class. I know Ms. Frizzle thinks of some weird ways to teach about science, but challenging Mr. O'Neatly's class to a science contest was her craziest idea to date. Mr. O'Neatly's class always wins everything The contest topic was magnetism, and we hadn't even started our unit yet. The Friz said she thought we'd have a natural attraction to the topic, but nothing could have prepared us for what happened next. Wait til' you hear about this
I homeschool my 5yo, and we've had some issues trying to get science education in without spending a fortune. I decided Magic School Bus was a good place to start, and looked into what was available. While the movies are a bit out of our price range to get too many, these books were perfect. This book had a fantastic in depth description of the properties of magnetism, going from domains to poles and magnetite to videotapes. The book itself was easy for my son to read and understand on his own, but we also had fun reading it together. This would be great for casual reading or educational supplement for lower elementary kids. 10 chapters in 76 pages make it easy to break up over several days, though my son and I went through it in about two hours. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who wants to make science fun without spending a fortune!
