I have never been a romance reader, but I picked up this book because I love history, and hoped the book would be interesting. I loved the book, and feel it is a wonderful story for young women to read. It was many years ago when I read the sunfire series, but was hoping to find them so that our library could order them. The sunfire books are great stories and teach a fascinating history lesson as well!
BRING OUR ROMANCES BACK!

Amanda was an amazing book! I'm very young and I loved it. Most romance books are above my level, not reading material for me. These romances are historical, but not all *mushy* romantic. Once I had an aching pain in my throut (I can't spell) and it was just constantly ripping at me. So I picked up AMANDA. When I started reading, I forgot about my throut! It was wonderful! I got 2 of the romances at my school "birthday book" program, but couldn't find them anywhere else! The next year when I got my "birthday book" they didn't have them anymore! I really would like to collect the series, so I'd love it if they'd be kind enough to bring them back! PLEASE! Read the books, they're great!
A great great book

This was my first Sunfire book, and though I don't remember where I picked it up, I'm very glad that I did! Amanda is certainly a well created character. Though the storyline is a bit cliche, in which the spoiled girl grows up during hardship, it is written well enough to be convincing, as is the romance between Amanda and Ben. This is certainly one of the best and most thoroughly developed stories in the series. One of the best aspects of the book is that there are many great things in here besides just the romance.
Good start to the Sunfire series

I read this one long ago, and in my opinion, it remains one of the most well-crafted Sunfires. Amanda is a believable heroine, and the historical details are interesting.

With her love at home and a new one out west, who will she choose? Such a choice! As she heads west to meet her destiny she falls in love and learns how to make something of herself.
