I bought this for my children, but I enjoyed reading it, too. I've always enjoyed Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, and this book reminded me of those. There is one big difference though, and that is that in this book the family is not allowed to live in peace. Godly people are persecuted simply because there is more than one wife in the family. The irony is that they are being persecuted by people who profess to be followers of the same God who was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and David and Moses - all of whom were polygamists. The sad thing is that this persecution continues even today.
