Single Schoolmarm Seeks Solitude... Spending the summer in tiny, idyllic Cooper's Landing sounded wonderful to play-it-safe teacher Evie McBride. She'd read, relax and run her dad's antique shop while he set out on a fishing trip. So how did she end up tutoring neighbor Sam Cutter's troubled teenaged niece? Especially since Sam's handsome face and sense of adventure didn't give her a moment's peace. Nor did the news that her dad wasn't out there looking for trout, but for a centuries-old sunken dowry with criminal ties. Ties that bound Evie and Sam to danger...and to each other.
This was a fantastic romance. I loved it! It was so sweet and exciting! I could not put it down!
God uses one event to reach many

Evie McBride is a school teacher. For summer vacation she is talked into watching her Dad's shop while he goes on what he says is a fishing trip - it isn't. She doesn't realize she will experience danger, find love, and learn to grow in the things of God. When she first meats Sam Cutter, she isn't impressed with him. Later when she learns he is a cop, that is harder as her Mom was a police officer and died in the line of duty. It is amazing how this story weaves around so many people and how one event brings so many to God, makes changes in others, etc. It increased and uplifted me in my spirit.
This is a treasure

As a lover of teaching, the Great Lakes, and romantic mysteries, this book was a great read! The setting is so realistic it was like reliving some of the best vacations we've taken as well as the the trials of having a not so happy middle schooler in our midst. Evie and Sam are both vulnerable and tenacious - their relationship and the twists and turns of the treasure seeking kept me page turning until 3 a.m. It was worth it! Kathryn weaves in spiritual truths so easily that her message of hope and faith is natural and very uplifting. I hope to see more with these characters soon!
