A mixture of historical fiction, mystery, and adventure
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
This book is part of the Mysteries In Time series, each of which revolves around a young person solving a mystery. In this book, eleven-year-old Emily Parker lives in British-occupied Boston in 1776, and her father is a doctor, who is also an ardent and active patriot. But trouble comes for Emily, when she begins to suspect that their neighbor, Robert Babcock, is actually a spy for the British. Emily must figure out what Robert is up to, and stop him before he can bring danger to her family. There's a lot going on in Boston, and somehow Emily must get to the bottom of things. This is a very nice book, having a good mixture of historical fiction, mystery, and adventure. My twelve-year-old daughter liked the characters and setting, and has been developing a love of mysteries. She loved the book, and we both highly recommend it to you. [For those of you interested in this era, I would like to recommend the Felicity books in the American Girls series.]
