This is the first volume of a two-volume political history of China. This volume covers the period from the early dynasties (chapter 1: Qin, Han, Sui, Tang) through the Song (chapter 2), Yuan (chapter 3), and Ming dynasties (chapter 4), and ending with the Qing dynasty (chapters 5, 6 and 7). . The book is intended to give western readers a better understanding of Chinese history, and of the Chinese historical point of view generally, with the aim of helping to promote peaceful relations between the West and China.
