Barbara Nadel knows the heart of Istanbul in and out. Having lived in Turkey many years ago I love to read about the Turkish cafes, the people. I can feel and breath the air of the Covered Bazaars, the open fruit markets, the yogurt man selling yogurt. The cobbled streets, the dolmush which is there wonderful taxi where you all pile in for one destination. I think she brings the city of Istanbul to life.

A Passion For Killing is a fantastic read. On top of that it is an outstanding window of Istanbul, Turkey. Barbara Nadel does a great job of discribing Turkey, the life of Turks and Istanbul as a modern city, with all the good and bad things among us. Ms. Nadel is the 'Agatha Christie' of Turkish mystery. Her character development is uncompticated and she has captured life in Istanbul very, very well. It really makes you want to go to Turkey and have a glass of tea.

This is a great series.Cetin Ikmen is a wonderful character, and Nadel brings Turkey to life through her writing. I can hardly wait to see the Golden Horn. Highly recommended. I actually like this series better than Donna Leon's books, which are outstanding.
