From the author of the immensely popular Homeward Hearts comes a riveting romance set in Oregon in 1888. The beautiful, coddled daughter of a once-prosperous ship captain is forced to take boarders into her home . . . never realizing she will take the scandalous Captain Jake Chastaine into her heart as well.
I just read Alexis Harrington's A LIGHT FOR MY LOVE and found it compelling, passionate and evocative. Stunning characters, a magnificent backdrop and incredible prose fill the pages. I've lived in Oregon all my life and this book reflects the spirit, courage and adventure of the pioneer Northwest. A Light For My Love is on my keeper shelf!
A delightful and rich story

This is the second book written by Ms. Harrington. I have since read all of her works and have never been disappointed! In "A Light for My Love", I find the characters of Jake and China engaging not because they become "lovers" late in the book but because they work through their feelings and desires much as in real life. My favorite romances have allowed their characters to develop meaningful relationships before they "jump into bed". As far as the two brothers, one left of his own accord but China, his sister, could not bring herself to blame her brother, and held a grudge against Jake. The other brother was only 13 years old and was shanghaied in a separate incident, not "taken" by Jake. I look forward to all her future books but thoroughly enjoyed "A Light for My Love."
