An enthralling tale of three generations of ballerinas, from the gilt-splendored St. Petersburg's Maryinsky Theatre in pre-revolutionary Russia, to the Hollywood of the fifties, to the boards of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a romance novel for those of you (like me) who are generally not into the romance genre. Instead, I see this book as a story of one woman's legacy. We are introduced to the main character, Natasha Ladanova, early on in the novel where she is a young aspiring dancer in the Russian Imperial Ballet. The story goes on to describe her life as a prima ballerina, her many loves, her haunted past, and the gripping yet sometimes tragic lives of her daughters and granddaughter. It is an engaging tale- a true romance in the sense that it tells the tales of its characters with passion and depth, not smuttiness. Prepare to be swept away to a world of the past and to be drawn into the lives of these characters as you turn the pages of this extraordinary story. I read this book for the first time at age sixteen (in one night- all 417 pages- it was that engrossing!), reread it numerous times as an adult, and have never been able to get it out of my mind since. To date, the book is out of print, but I suggest that if you can obtain a used copy you should do so. You will be pleasantly surprised!
A Grand Passion a book of great interest.

A Grand Passion was a very good book. As a dancer myself I found it very believing and interesting. I have read this book five times and all of those times I enjoyed it even more. I thought that the author did a very good job of putting three generations of a families history of dance and love together. I highly reccomend this book because it is very interesting and believable.
