A Cub Explores by author Pamela Love follows a day in the life of a black bear cub and his mother somewhere in a northern forest. This is a day of discovery for the cub as he curiously investigates a rock that turns out to be a paiinted turtle, finds a treasure trove of delicious blackberries, experiences an anxious moment with a large bull moose, and survives a treetop scrapt with a snarling bobcat defending her young. The colored pencil illustrations by wildlife artist Shannon Sycks are a perfect enhancement for this original and entertaining picturebook which is especially recommended for young readers preschool through first grade.
