Motifs, projects and ideas to tempt new and more experienced quilters
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
I am building quite a library of quilting and appliqué craft books as I seek to collect ideas for my own projects. This book includes some traditional designs as well as Ms Bell's own designs which she has developed over 25 years of quilting. The patchwork blocks covered include four, five, seven and nine patch blocks as well as hexagons, diamonds and stars. Curved blocks will be beyond my skill level for a while, but I know I'll be tempted to work designs with names such as `Robbing Peter to Pay Paul' and `Drunkard's Path'. The leaf motifs (in appliqué) will probably be my starting point. The shapes of ash, holly, maple and oak leaves lend themselves to appliqué with some hand embroidering to finish. This is a very attractive book. The 201 quilt blocks included lend themselves to all manner of projects. There are plenty of smaller projects here for those new to the craft, as well as a treasure trove of possibilities for experienced quilters looking for something different. The designs are clearly explained and well illustrated, and so very tempting. Jennifer Cameron-Smith
