10,000 Garden Questions Answered by 20 Experts

"10,000 Garden Questions Answered by 20 Experts" is a comprehensive and invaluable resource for gardeners of all levels. The book is a compilation of answers to a myriad of gardening questions, covering topics from vegetable gardening to fruit cultivation, houseplants, plant troubles, and regional garden problems by state. It is structured in a way that makes it easy to navigate and find specific information without sifting through unnecessary details, which is particularly useful for quick reference. The book's vintage charm, with its pleasing look, lovely binding, and vintage pictures, adds to its appeal and makes it a delightful read even for those who are not actively seeking gardening advice. The inclusion of over 400 illustrations and temperature and planting maps further enhances its practicality and usefulness. I praise the book's content for being both useful and insightful into vintage gardening practices and design, making it a lovely addition for any amateur horticulturalist. Overall, "10,000 Garden Questions Answered by 20 Experts" is a must-have for any gardener looking for a wealth of information presented in an accessible and engaging manner. The 1982 edition of 10,000 Garden Questions Answered is published by Doubleday Religious Publishing Group, whereas the 1944 edition is published by The American Garden Guild and Doubleday, Doran & Co. The 1944 edition has 1467 pages and contains black and white illustrations throughout, edited by F. F. Rockwell. The 1944 edition is available in hardcover with green cloth and gilt lettering. The 1974 edition, which is likely similar to the 1982 edition, contains 13,000 questions answered by twenty horticultural authorities.

A great, ageless reference!

I've had "10,000 Garden questions answered by 20 experts" for over 15 years. It is a great all round reference for almost any type of plant in your garden - shrubs, perennials, annuals, groundcovers, etc. The question and answer format is useful, since the questions cover most of the important facts about each type of plant - how much sun, what kind of soil, how much water, when and how to prune. There are chapters on home vegetable gardens, home ground fruits, house plants, plant troubles and their control, weeds, and regional garden problems. The index is excellent, so the reader can find information about plants in different chapters - soils and fertilizers, landscaping, I've rarely failed to find useful information in this book about any kind of annual, biennial, perennial, tree, shrub, or vine. Most of the culitivars discussed in the book are no longer available, as the book was originally published in 1946. Aside from that, plants don't change, so this is still a very valuable reference.
