Anne Perry is an English author of historical detective fiction. Born in London in 1938 as Juliet Marion Hulme, she was convicted of participating in the murder of her friend's mother in 1954 in New Zealand. She changed her name and returned to England after serving her sentence. Perry published her first novel in 1979. Since then, her more than sixty novels have never been out of print, with over twenty-six million copies of her books in print worldwide. Perry won the Edgar Award for Best Short Story and two Agatha Awards, one for Best Short Story and Best Novel. She was selected by The Times as one of the 20th Century's "100 Masters of Crime."
